The brief

Multi Konstruksie completed this custom ground-mounted solar project in Brits, North West, providing the client with a powerful and practical renewable energy solution. The client wanted to make the most of their available outdoor space and needed a system with more battery backup than a standard two-battery setup — ensuring extended power through long loadshedding cycles.

What we installed

  • 20 × 550W solar panels — total solar capacity of 11kW
  • Custom-designed and fabricated steel ground-mount frame — panels positioned for optimal all-day sun exposure
  • SunSynk hybrid inverter managing solar, battery and grid inputs
  • 3 × SLBAT Powerline-10 lithium battery units — approximately 30kWh of storage
  • Neat indoor power unit installation with professional cable management

Why ground-mounted?

For this installation the solar panels were not placed on the roof. Instead, Multi Konstruksie designed and built a dedicated steel support structure, allowing the panels to be positioned in an open area with excellent sunlight throughout the day — while keeping the roof completely untouched. This approach gives better performance, easier future maintenance access, and a longer-lasting installation.

The result

The completed system combines a strong steel solar frame, a SunSynk hybrid inverter, and an expanded 30kWh battery bank — providing a reliable, efficient, and well-planned solar solution. The larger battery bank gives the property more backup time and greater flexibility when drawing on stored solar energy after sunset or during extended power failures. The 11kW solar array reduces daily grid electricity usage, while the 30kWh battery bank offers extended protection during loadshedding and power failures.
